45/410 rifled barrels?
« on: August 29, 2006, 04:51:28 AM »
I am not sure if I have asked this here before.  Does NEF make a rifled 45/410?  I think this would be great for 45 Mongo experiments.  I know they offer a rifled 410 slug barrel, but I do not beleive it is intended for .452 bullets. Does anyone know the bore on the rifled slug Barrel?
....make it count

I know there has been some discussion of the mongo on the centerfire board using the 45/410 barrel. I have never heard of a rifled slug barrel for the 410 slugs? I dont have one but it is my understanding that the 45/410 barrel is realy a 45lc barrel that will accept 410 shells. There is a chke tube that you remove when using it for 45s.

Yep, Markus has it right. The only thing I would add, is that the 410 shotcup rides on the lands of the .45 LC and the choke is straight rifled to stop shotcup rotation. So the only thing rifled for the 410 would be the straight rifled choke for shot, not slugs.

if yu notice thats why all brands of 45/410 are advertised that way , it wouldnt be  legal  to sell a  short  410 in most states, like thos commanches and t/c  barrels , thats why they call them 45/410 its a 45 long colt barrel that can shoot a 410, and they have to be rifled
