Recommendations on Where to Hunt Wild Boar
« on: August 27, 2006, 10:54:07 PM »
I need some help guys! Myself and a friend would like hunt wild boar in Jan.-Feb of 2007, if that's the right time of year. I'm from New York and don't have a clue as to where to find a good lodge/outfitter that you can trust. We're looking for a place where the boars are big and not fenced  in. Hopefully we wouldn't have to go any further South than the Carolina's , that's only to keep the driving to 1 day. But if better hunting requires us to go further then we'll travel furhter.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

NYHunter

The Langley Ranch in Centerville Texas is suppossed to be real good.  They share a fence with my sisters 26 acres and have guests from all over the country.   I do not have their web site handy, but can look it up 2morrow, or you can do an internet search for it..

Thanks to all for the info & links. Not really sure on the type of hunt, to be honest I didn't know there were choices. We're looking for a 1-2 day hunt, with lodging, and yes, taking a hog that can be eaten. I didn't know there are hogs that are not good for eating?  What makes the difference? We'll be using rifles like an '06, .308, .300 Sav, or .35 Rem. I guess any of those will do fine?

The only concern I have about hunting in summer, down south, in swampy areas, are snakes. I can handle just about anything else. That's why we were thinking about doing this hunt in Jan. - Feb.

Thanks again...NYHunter

You might inquire here,  www.lazyrhunts.com/.  We hunted there last year and my buddy and I killed 6 wild hogs and 2 javelinas in 2 1/2 days.  Saw lots of deer, as well as bobcat and coyotes.  Its an 18,000 acre ranch in south Texas.  Chris and Maria Roswell are excellent hosts.  I think my buddy and I are going back this year.

I will be going on my first hog hunt this year at the end of Sept. I choose www.wildernesshuntinglodge.com. They seemed to have reasonable prices, lots of acreage, and they will let us hunt any way we want to (dogs, stand, stalk). They owner is slow to answer email (he is very busy) but he is a really nice guy to talk to. I will post a couple of pictures and a review when I get back.

I would hunt when the senate is in recess. Hillary and Chuckie will both be back home in New York. They shouldn't be hard to find, you won't need dogs (I doubt a dog would bite either of them) and both are definantly bores. ;D
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

I'll take my 300WM, as the stinch will be too strong to get close to them!!
