Jeep Rubicon
« on: December 27, 2005, 06:43:17 AM »
I'm thinking seriously about getting a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon... anyone have any experience with them? Rumor has it that Jeep will be replacing the classic model with a larger Wrangler... 4 door even... so this might be the last chance to get one of these things.

Own a TJ now.  Unless you're really in need of the lockers (most that have to ask don't) save the money and buy the Sport or X model (you'll at least get the 6 cyl that way.
A stock TJ will do very well for itself w/o lockers for most.

Oh, Yes, there is to be a new wranger next year.  Debuts in january at either hte NY or Detroit show.  Will be available in 4 door models with a different style removeable panel top.  Slightly wider stance also.  Also been strong rumors of an 8 cly to be offered.
They are NOT economy models with fuel.  They are not a family vehicle and are not a long trip vehicle.

Just circling back on this thread. I did get the '06 Unlimited Rubicon and absolutely love it! What a blast, both on and off the road. Except for Body Armor bumpers, a Warn winch and some IPF lights it is still pretty stock. Will probably put a 4.5" Nth Degree long arm lift on it pretty soon... but out of the box, this baby rocks. The lockers are everything I'd expected for rock crawling in the desert, and this sucker just eats up hills. Haven't put a snorkel on it yet and have already forded some decent streams. Yep, I just love it. Rubi has already brought me back into some serious pig country. She loves to hunt!
