What is your favorite magnum of your past, present or future in a rifle caliber and why?

7MM Rem Mag with 160gr Speer bullets. Have also had two 338 Win Mag's. I found the 338's more than I needed and to much recoil. Also had a 264 Win Mag and a 300 Win Mag. didn't care for either. 264 had to much muzzle blast for me and the 300 to much reciol with bullets I prefered.

.44 Mag in a '94 Trapper...no need for anything else. 13 Whitetale, 1- 4 x 4 Bull Elk, 1- Black Bear. Would've gotten a Moose with 'er, but buddy put it down before I got the chance with his .54 36" Kentucky Black Powder (I was trying to work closer and hope'n he did not see him).

I like the new 300 WSM.  It offers plents of accuracy, range, and knock-down in a short-action rifle.  I think that this one will last.....

7mm rem mag.  i have shot from seventy five to almost five hundred yard and it does the same job every time, with a lung and heart shot they run about 75 yards and drop hard, hardly any blood when you hang em and slit the throat.  Even for as big of a cartridge, it really leaves a nice clean wound, usually exiting with not much bigger of a hole than the entry.  That and it shoots so nice and flat with winchester 145 grain ballistic silvertip shells.  I hope to work up my own handload this year, will just have to see if i have the time.

I must agree with Redhawk on the 300 win mag. I had one in a BAR but traded in for an M1A. My plan is to get an Encore prohunter 300 mag barrel since i have part of an Encore system in a pistol. I Think a 300 in the prohunter would be wonderful. I have so many 300 mag reloading components it would just make sense. The 7mm Remington magnum in an Abolt is my only long range magnum at this time so it is presently my favorite for many valid reasons. A short mag like the 300 or maybe the new 325 in the Browning TI short action interests me very much, light and powerful, recoil does not bother me. I hunt strictly whitetail in WI and currently do it with a 308 Win M1A, but someday bigger game will be on the menu.

Although I am very partial to the .300 WM, I must go with my favorite the .375 H&H magnum.

.350 Remington Mag.

180 grain Barnes X @ 3000 fps.

With a 100 yard zero, drop at 200 yards in about 3".

Kind of obscure I guess, but a great caliber.
