.........Has anyone shot these yet? I just picked up 6 boxes (30 slugs).........didn't know I would have to take out a 2nd mortgage on the house to finance them.........but hopefully they will shoot good in my Ultra Slug Hunter LE. The slugs with 6 percent sales tax came to $82.36, or $12.95/box before tax. At $2.75 EACH after tax, you don't go out shooting these every day, that is for sure.
They are using the .45 caliber 250 grain SST bullet in the 20 ga, the 12 ga uses the .50 caliber 300 grain SST bullet.
The 20's Muzzle velocity is 1800 fps with trajectories as follows:
50 yds = + 2.5"
100 yds = +3.3"
150 yds = 0.0"
200 yds = -8.2
Just hope these things shoot well out of my 1-28" twist barrel. These slugs should be comparable to a muzzleloader loaded at around 100 grains of powder, as long as the accuracy holds up. I have been shooting the Remington Ultra Core-Lokt 260 grain slugs and the Winchester Partition Gold 260 grain slugs over the last few years and have been happy with the results, but there is always room for improvement. Lets hope the new SST is what I have been looking for.
I will probably Zero these in at 125 yds, that should keep things closer under + 2.0" all the way out to 125 and hopefully within - 2.0" at 150 yds. I don't plan on shooting any farther than that anyway.
The 12 ga has a MV of 2000 fps, and has a flatter trajectory even with the heavier slug. Now the 12 ga I would consider to be a true 200 yard bullet as long as the accuracy holds out.
If anyone has shot these in 20 ga, please report your results and I will do the same. I will be waiting for a cool day with absolutely no wind before I shoot these things at $2.75 a pop though.
