7.62x39 imp.
« on: August 28, 2006, 08:28:27 AM »
Hello, I just put a AR15 together in 7.62x39. I then found out that a dependable magazine is not available for this rifle in that chambering. The mags are to straight to work with the fast taper of the case. It seems that a Ack.Imp. 7.62x39 would be a good solution to the mag problem, and give greater powder capder cap..Have any of you guys done this? Thoughts,Opinions?

Yep, it's been done before. You might look for something called the 30 Kern. It's basically what you're looking for, designed for cast bullet benchrest matches. Another one that works well in the AR is a 6.8 SPC case run through a 30 Herett die. You can use 6.8 SPC mags, and they're pretty reliable. And there is that outfit that adapts AK mags to AR-15 lowers. Never dealt with them, but it looks like it'd work.
