I've got a 4 3/4" Uberti Bisley in .44-40 that is currently being converted to .44 Special. After shooting it some before the conversion and handling it a bit, I'm inclined to think I may change the grip frame. I normally pack a Ruger Vaquero Bisley and enjoy that grip frame, as well as those of the Freedom Arms. Recently I was reading up on the 1860 grip frame conversion. Taffin mentions having done it and the parts are available, aside from the complete grip frame, a different trigger and screws it should be fairly easy to do. Anyone done such a thing? I think the longer grip and slightly different angle will really work out well for me. Thoughts?
