Anyone know how much CUP pressure a G2 can handle?

I am asking because of an earlier post regarding  7.62x39 loadings.
From what I understand, .223 has a Saammi max psi pressure of 55,000 and 7.62x39 has a Saammi   max pressure of 45,000.  If the factory makes a .223 barrel, I would think the frame can handle the lower pressure 7.62x39 factory loads. Just curious?

It depends on case head diameter, ie; the larger the case head diameter the more you have to lower pressure.
Typically with the larger cartridges, 45k is the max before you start to stretch the frame with subsiquent shots.
But be carefull with this is, as it is possible to stretch a frame with "just" a .223rem.

I just called TC and the FoxRidge custom shop.
Both said 7.62x39 full factory loads will not hurt the frame.

There you go,
Just be carefull if you are reloading and experimenting with a few different powders as this is were you run into potential problems, ie: heavy charges of fast burning pistol powders that are over max pressure will shorten the frame life in a hurry,
even in a "little .223 rem."

Pretty darn good advice any time you reload.  Thanks for reminding us!

it is not "pressure" alone, but pressure per area. The larger diameter case spreads pressure out over larger area and works the action more. .223 at 55K CUP is acceptable. .30/30 at 45K CUP is acceptable. .308 at 55K CUP IS NOT. (or .243.) .45/70 is o.k. with trapdoor loads (under 20K CUP) but not with Ruger 1 and bolt action loads (40KCUP). Mike Bellm has his Triad series on the .444 Marlin Case for use with these lower pressures. And a long, imported .22 European case that gives .22/250 preformance out of a narrower rimmed case so the higher pressure, like the .223, is sufficiently containeddirected to be safe. Even exceeds the .222 Mag Improved...  He rants much on his web site. enjoy. luc,
