customer question- does Lubalox leave residue in barrel
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:51:08 PM »
Customer asked me yesterday-will Winchester Ballistic Silvertips leave moly residue in his barrel?  I told him that they aren't moly coated but are coated with Winchester's "Lubalox".  Okay.......but will it leave a residue?  I didn't know, so I told him "I don't know".  LOL

He had a "match grade Kimber rifle".  Whether or not Kimber makes a "match grade" hunting rifle or not, I don't know.  It constantly amazes me how people can have enough money to buy something along the lines of Kimber rifle, but be not have the forethought to buy ammo until the day before modern gun season.  Also, if I had a $1000 rifle I don't think that I would be trusting the opinion of some guy who works at Wal-Mart (no offense to me).   My old boss had a Sako Finnlight but didn't know what weight of ammo that he shot.  Maybe my bluecollar roots are showing, but I just don't get it.  How can you be so proud of the "top of the line" but you don't know jack about your rifles?  Okay, I'm finished.

So other than regular gilding/copper residue in the barrel would Winchester Supreme ammo leave residue?  Would it matter?

Yes "Lubalox" does leave some residew but it cleans out easily with any normal cleaning. It's just graphite in a laquer paint coat, and very thin at that. No exrta claening is required.
