CZ 75 B SA 40s+w
« on: September 21, 2006, 08:02:50 AM »
I have one that shoots everything under the sun EXCEPT Winchesters in the white box (target loads) before and after it was sent back fore factory work. It is admittedly much better but it still fails to Exteract occasionally.  Is there anything else i can do.
 thanks

Polish the chamber and make sure the extractor is fitted and shaped properly.

Carefully check the brass for marks. How exactly does it fail? Does the empty remain in the chamber and the next round feeds into it, smokestack? Also have you check the extractor spring tensioning? The 40 is a higher pressure round and they sometimes get a bit sticky,.,. A mark on the fired case that indicates the extrator pulled over the rim would be a good indicator of a too light extractor spring. First though we need more details..  These are usually faily decent shooters..

It leaves the case in fully one time and 1/2 out of chamber the next only does this with the Winchester loads . It was sent back to CZ. Extractor was checked chamber polished and heavy duty extractor sprig installed. Was informed by CZ its my problem now as it only gives trouble with one type of ammo.To bad its new and its been this way out of box. Going to polish out chamber.
Thanks

Are there any marks on the brass. Usually a rough chamber will at least mark the brass a bit. You may also be heading in the wromg direction if the chamber has already been polished. I've seen them polished into an egg shape. This will certainly retard extraction! This usually shows up as a ring around the case near the begining of the bulged area. What concerns me is this only occurs with a single brand of ammo.  Perhaps theres a problem with ammo?  Have you tried another run batch of ammo from this maker? Is the bullet weight similar to ammunition that HAS functioned the piece?  Lastly do you care.. Don't know the purpose of the weapon but if it functions well with the ammo you wish to use, does it not working with all ammo really matter??

Yes I have tried a differant batch of wins with the same results. Currently have a batch of casings on way back to winchester for evaluation and the chamber dose seem egg shaped going to check for sure soon as I get back to work monday it the machine shop. You are right about maybe not needing to shoot the win but it is the cheapest stuff around here to practice with and besides it is back up after a 12 pump.

Egg sshaped chambers will definitely cause failures but I don't understand why only with the winchester ammo. Since the weapon is a defense piece it's main attribute must be reliability.. Anything less is unacceptablle!
