amp.6x6 for ice fishing
« on: August 04, 2006, 05:38:24 PM »
As of now I use a kawa atv to acess a remote pond for ice fishing, but with snowmobile trails being closed to atv,s where I live in maine, im considering  other options as I own frontage on the brook that runs into the pond im considering a amp.6x6 as opposed to a sled lets face it not all winters are good for sleds last years was one of worse in my area, their were probaly 4 days total I could have used a sno machine,a friend has said that he thinks a amp.6x6 would  be able to go though about a 1/2 mile of mixed adlers/hummocks or run the brook which is normaly frozen except around beaver dams. so my questions are as follows would one of these vechiles be able to beat its way though down though swamp to get to the pond,if so which would be a good model to get it seems the maxxs sell for less than the argos,im primarly interested in a gas and go low maintance, high mobilty tranportation.                  please advise thanks T-T

I'm sure you know all about the tracker systems but since no one posted anything...

I've got snow issue problem too in MN. Some years no snow but some years buried!!! I've seen so many guys drop the big bucks on the new snow sled and for the next 5 years no snow. They sell it one spring disgusted and that October already have a 6 inch snow base on ground!

I'm leaning hard for a snow tracker system myself as soon as I can scrape up the cash.

Thanks for the reply bearfat,i've seen a simlar system on a atv being used to groom skimobile trails. I was told that it does make the atv steer harder, and that it required a machine of at least 500cc, I posted the same ?,on a icefishing site and couldn,t belive some of the responses including a link to a company that makes a self propelled ice shack on tracks, I think I have settled on a maxx2 and will soon start looking for a good late model with bigger motor.-T.T.
