Stubbing?
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:07:21 AM »
Do any of you have stubbed barrels?  Who did the work?  Is accuracy up to par or need lots of tweaking?  Shotgun or rifle barrel was stubbed?  Colonelsanders

A stub will cost $250-$350 plus the cost of the donor parts, site sponsor Wayne York used to do them, but won't any more, they're too labor intensive, he does reboring tho, so I can see his point. He did a stubbed 6.5x55 with a Shilen blank with a 308Win stub for me a couple years ago.

Seems to me a custom Encore barrel would be less money.  I want to stay with the Handi though, just a better looking rifle(IMO).  Tim, how does the Swede shoot?

Good enough, it could use a little forend adjustment tho, this is with the 140gr Lapua Silver Scenar, the 3rd shot is a little wide....or it was just me! It's only been to the range once.

That's at 100yds, no range here for any shooting further than that.

Depends on the quality of the barrel you use for the project.  No difference whether using a shotgun or rifle barrel as a donor, this is a 100 yard group with a 17 Remington Fireball barrel I did a while back.  Larry
