I've never tried it with that caliber, but I would think if you could get a tapered expander, you shoud be able to run the 30-30 brass through the 38-55 FL sizer and have the brass ready for fire forming.

I don't really know how well that would work, but if it did, it would save a lot of $$ buying the forming die.

38/55 dies do not have any expander.

Just FYI and you may already know this but it will be shorter athn reg 38-55 brass.

Keep looking you will find Brass, I picked up a couple hundred cases a short time ago. as suggested try Midway, Cabellas, Natchez and Mid South Shooter supply.

FWIW, I have  Marlin rifle and a T/C Contender barre chambered in 375 Win. The 375 Win. is really just a slightly shortened high pressure 38-55. I tried the 30-30 cases in my 375 Win. dies (RCBS). The cases necked up with no problem. However, I did have problems with the necks- too thin to size properly in my dies. They would not hold the bullet.

My attempt to make 375 cases failed. I did manage to aquire a good supply of 375 Win. cases. I'd still like to be able to form cases from 30-30 brass. i have a lots of it.

One other thing....check the volume of the reformed 30-30 cases against the 375 cases. you will find more capacity, the 375 cases are thicker, so beware in your loadings.

I have been sucessfully in re-forming by first anealing the case mouths.  Stand the cases up in a cookie tray filled with water. Use a propane torch to heat the shoulder neck area cherry, then tap it with the tourch tip to tip it over into the water to quench it. When done, clean, dry and load as normal. I once made up a hundred 256 win cases from 357 mag brass doing this. Now THATS a hard case to make!!!
