close but no cigar
« on: September 18, 2006, 11:35:49 AM »
....worked a gun show this weekend and there were two rifles there I almost could not live without.....however, economics being what they are and trying not to completely derail the familyl budget, I had to make a choice....there was a green and brown laminated stocked 30-06 ultra comp rifle there with sling and a cheap tasco scope (used) rifle priced at $285 bananas.....AND, there was a new in the box Mossberg ss single shot 30-06.......already having a .270 Ultra Comp I reallty wanted the matching big brother, but the bucks were not just there for both....so i took a gamble and bought the mosssberg and will try to get the ultra at the next gun show I am pretty sure he will be there.....damn it sucks being born poor AND ugly.......

Yep.  Poor and Ugly ... 0 fer 2.  I know the feeling.  Just ain't fair.

You must have picked up the Mossberg for a good price.  The last one I saw was $299.   If I recall, that was a discounted price for a new one at Gander Mountain.  By the way, I believe there are some threads regarding the Mossberg over on the Single Shot forum.

I'm in the opposite position as you ... I have the .06 Ultra Comp and have an eye out for a .270.

Start feeding the piggy bank, the Ultra may show up at the next gun show.

Enjoy your new Mossberg.
