Lil Hunter 12 - Remington made a little over 69,000 760's in .380 caliber from 1957 to 1980 (not including Carbine models) whereas they made almost 605,000 760's in .30-06 caliber from 1952 to 1980 (again not counting Carbines); Total rifle production for 760's was around 972,000. Based on those numbers, the .308 accounted for approximately 7% of the total 760 rifle production whereas the .30-06 accounted for around 62%. While I find it hard to believe that a 760 in .308 would be worth $1,200 (I don't mean that as an insult either, please don't take me wrong, it very well couuld be worth that much to certain people) it's an obvious fact that they made a lot fewer .308's than .30-06's and rarity always has an effect on value...
