Encore reloading ? Neck sizing or full length resize
« on: September 24, 2006, 09:59:28 AM »
I thought about posting this on the reloading forum, but this is just an Encore reloading question. Actually, it's an Encore reloading question if it's a bottle-neck case question.

I'm curious as to those of you who reload, how many of you just neck size your brass or do you always  full length size your bottle neck brass for your Encore?

Thanks.

Dave.

hey dave.
I full lenth resize for mine and zero problems.just a thought but with a single shot I just don't need a problem out hunting if a 2 shot is required and fast.

Thanks txpete. I've been using the Lee Collett dies on my Contender .223 for a year now with no problems, but for my new Pro-Hunter .243 the first two or three times using the .243 collett die have been fine, but after that, I've had some issues with closing the barrel and cocking the hammer.

I've measured the amount of case that "hangs out" of the end of the barrel, and it appears I need to do some full sizeing to set back the shoulder.

I've not had this issue with the .223 on the Contender, but my guess is it must be a pressure issue with the .243 that the .223 doesn't have. That's just a "swag" on my part, but I can't think of what else it would be.

I racked my brain (sorry, it's deer season...) when I first got into the encore scene. I decided as well to full length resize as well. have had no problems at all.
you wanna take my guns? go ahead, it's your arm!

I mostly neck size with Lee Collet dies.  Ammo to be used in 2 different guns is full length sized.

I always full length resize... But, I just bump the sholder back a bit so it still fits the chamber tight.
