.357 magnum and Winchester Super Target
« on: September 29, 2006, 08:58:15 PM »
Hello everyone. I was hoping some of you guys could chime in and help. I have a whole bunch of Winchester Super Target powder left. I want to reload the 357 magnum. After reading Jerry lesters information a few times, I've decided to use the Remington JSP's. I was hoping to use the 125 grainers so I could shoot them in my rifle and pistol, and as a bonus have my wife shoot them too. I cannot find anywhere on the net any information using this powder with the .357. Do any of you guys have a load worked up using this powder? Can I use this powder? Can I use it if I go to a heavier bullet? Any info you could pass on to me would sure be appreciated. I see it has been used alot loading the 38 special, so I would think I should be able to use it. Thanks, Don

Probably because WST is not a good powder for the .357, unless you are downloading to .38 Special loadings.

I checked Winchester's site, and they only list loads for 38 special with lead bullets, 148 and 158 grains.

I wish I had better advice for you, but I can't even find WST around here, let alone loading data. It's closest neighbor in terms of burn rate is Accurate N100. I'd hate to make assumptions about how the larger volume of a 357 case would effect the pressure behind a jacketed bullet. It's probably best to ask the people at Winchester Powders.
