Remington 7400 vs. 750 ?
« on: August 14, 2006, 05:47:14 AM »
I bought a 750 in 06 and can't seem to get it sighted in. My step son has a new 7400 and it will shoot 3 shot 1" groups  He wants my new 750 and wants to trade his 7400for the 750 plus give me some boot. What would you do ? I would have to put butt pad on and install suivels. I like the boy (young man) and always cut him deals where I loose lots of money.Only thinkg I don't like about his is the gloss finish. ;D
Also would like to ask if the barrel band type for the 7600 work on a 7400 ?

I think you should hang on to the 750 as it has some significant improvements over the 7400. Don't forget that these rifles should be supported under the center of gravity on the front bag for best results. This puts the bag just ahead of the mag. Good luck what ever you decide to do!!!!!!!

Hang in with the 750 I would. For best accuracy the gun sholud be supported just ahead of the mag(ie under the C of G). God luck what ever you decide!!!!!!

I had the option of buying either/or. I bought the 750 because of the improved gas system. We shot 60 rounds in 243 today at the range and had no problems what so ever once I figured out how it was intented to be loaded. We were all over a 12X12inch target at 25 yards shooting freehand and rapid fire. I hope to get a scope for mine and settle down to a 2 inch circle at 100 yards for actual hunting.

I bought my 7400 in .30-06 twenty years ago. I really like that gun. I have had no malfunctions yet (except with the reduced recoil ammo from Remington and Federal, they won't cycle the action). I would expect the 750 to be as good or better. However, I wouldn't trade mine for the world. But, it was the first gun I ever bought so there is a little sentimental value to it.
