xr100 stock
« on: September 25, 2006, 03:38:25 PM »
Does anybody know what standard stock will fit the Xr100 to replace the thumbhole one?   I am considering the rifle, just not crazy about the stock.  No flames please!! ;)
thanks

Nothing standard will fit. The action is basically the Model 7 which is shorter than the short action Model 700 so the stocks for the 700 won't fit. There are no other versions of the Model 7 ever been offered with such a heavy barrel, so basically you're on your own. It's gonna take someone to make a custom stock if you don't like the one on it. But all is not necessarily lost.

Boyd makes them for Remington, so IF they wanted to they could make you one to your specifications. Will they? Dunno

The stock is actually pretty workable. I like mine, it does take a little bit to get use to with grip and trigger finger placement. I think it's only a matter time for someone to put out some more offerings, like HS.  I suppose they are waiting to see the numbers sold and rifles out there in the hands of shooters.
It would be a great time to right a short email or letter to your favorite stock maker about it 8)

I must be shaped kinda like the generic person that they built the stock for.  I'd like the comb to be just a tad higher but all in all, I find it very workable.
