need help on a bow
« on: September 18, 2006, 01:44:47 PM »
i recently purchased a ben pearson spoiler lite off of a friend.  the bow has never been fired, and the other day i went to shoot it.  on the first shot it made an awful noise and one of the cables jumped off of the groove in the cam.  i had a friend look it over.  he said it didnt look like it was hurt, just that the cable came off.  he put it on a press and put the cable back on, but now when i pull it back and let it back down the cable comes back off.  im wondering if anybody has any ideas, or information on these bows and cams.  my friend thinks the cable may be routed incorrectly, but has no way of finding a diagram.  any info would be greatly appreciated.

there is absolutely no way this is normal.  Are you dry firing it?  If not I'd take that bow to a bow shop immediately  before damage is done.  Don't try and fix it yourself.  If you are dry firing it STOP.  NEVER dry fire a bow.

WEll the LD I have heard is stable and a good shooter. But so is the XT. But most importantly shoot them and more if u can. I shot the Xt and personally didnt like the way the Cam rolled over, so i bought the 05' switchback. But many people like the XT so try diff bows, then make your dicision.

no dry firing,  just shot(w/ arrow)....the only thing i can figure is either, 1.  bow wasnt strung properly or 2. this bow has been sitting for a long time,  i dont know what has happened to it in the past.  i was told it was never shot, (by a reliable friend) but he hasnt been sitting with that bow since it was unpackaged.  what im getting at is that it's history may not be what i was told.  i did have another friend look at it who does bow work, he said the cam seemed to be fine and the limbs didnt seem to be cracked or damaged.  he didnt however check the idler wheel.  right now im looking at either a messed up wheel, or the unexpected.  but the same friend is supposed to be looking more in depth tonight..... any other thoughts would be appreciated.
