I ran into this problem tonight while reloading a batch of .270 topped with Barnes TSX in 150 grain. It seemed as if the bullet was being skinned as I seated it into the cartridge. At times there was long copper flakes coming off and falling out by the press when I removed the cartridge. On about 3 cartridges it appeared that the copper would curl up and seat between the bullet and the case causing a small bulge or indentation in the case. I loaded up 50 of the TSX 2 weeks ago with out a single problem. I loaded 50 130 grain Sierra Game Kings 2 days ago with no problems.
I am curious if there are precautions I should take when loading the TSX since it is a copper bullet with no lead. I have been reloading for 8 years now and this is the first time that this has happened.
Any help would be appreciated.
