My '83 is back.

My '83 came back from FA today.  I shipped it out on the 23rd to have the transfer bar worked on.  That's 13 days including the transport time so I'm happy.

It went to the range today and is working just fine.  Now, its owner needs to sharpen up  his aim a bit (quite a bit, as a matter of fact).

My 83 454 has accuracy problems when I shoot full power Winchester Supreme 260 grain 1800 fps slugs at 25 yards.  But when I shoot cowboy load 45 colt 225 grain at 830 fps it groups real good.  I think its the revolver's fault!  Especially since it has a 2x scope.  Surely it has to be the revolver.  Maybe the extra stress of the 454 casull load sets up some kind of metallurgical vibration and the 7.5 inch barrel shifts around and sprays the bullets every which way?  Maybe the bullet goes so fast that the rifling in the barrel can't spin the bullet and it acts like a rifled slug out of a shotgun?  I know it can't be me.  I'm a good shot.  Really, I am.  Quit laughing at me!  OK, let's see you shoot this one any better.  Come on, any takers?  See, it is the revolver.  It can't be me...

At that speed, I am curious...are you using a gas checked bullet? What kind of slug design are you using?

Have you tried a 300-350 grain bullet at around 1400-1500 fps?
