Closed Up Breech Plug
« on: October 08, 2006, 07:27:38 AM »
I have a Knight breech plug with the flash hole stopped up.  I don't have a nipple pick.  I tried clearing it with a needle, but the needle broke.  I was thinking of trying to open it with by hand twisting a drill bit in the hole, but I didn't want to enlarge the flash channel.  Does anyone know how to clear this or what size it should be?  The smallest drill bit I can find is 1/16 and that still seems a little large.

Any help appreciated.

Make sure you have the breech plug out of the rifle. Put some solvent in there to help soften the carbon, or if you have some carburator cleaner give it a few blasts of that from each side. Get yourself a nipple pick, a bent over guitar string, wire, a paper clip or whatever you can find and keep that hole cleaned after every time you shoot your rifle. You want to make sure it goes BANG when that bick steps out in front of you.
