7MM Rem mag goint to the lease next weekend

My newest toy will accompany me to the lease this weekend. It is bow season for deer and the only gun work I have will be if hogzilla steps out and I figure a 175 grain Hornady Spire point pushed to 2900 fps will handle him. I will be taking for camp grub the smoked hindquarter from the sow taken a couple of weeks ago and it looks like a nice time is coming my way.

Well it is going to be rainy, windy and cold so I may take one of my weatherproofed synthetic stocked rifles instead. Kind of funny now that I think of it, before stainless and synthetic were common I never thought twice about weather bothering my rifles.

Well it was rainy way more than I expected. Worked on my stand for a whole 45 minutes and got my feeder filled and runnoing.  The smoked hog leg was good, the company excellent as we played poker all saturday night. I saw 20 or so deert, all does with fawns out the window of the hunting shack. I did hike around in the rain a bit and just wiped my 7x57 down (Ugly) and unloaded her. Beat the heck out of hanging around the house.

Ha ha ! If you take care of them, you still don't need to think twice! Makes ya wonder, how did this country ever get settled with "worthless" wood and iron rifles?
