body grip traps?
« on: October 17, 2006, 12:42:32 PM »
hey, i am new to trapping and i was wondering how exactly body grip traps work. Can you use them the same way you use foot hold traps? For instance could I hang a bait over a body grip trap as I would a foothold trap. How exactly are they set off? Some pictures of sets would be nice. Thank you.

Body grips are not used like footholds. An animal swims or walks into a body gripper. This fires the trap onto the head or neck region of most animals. This kills tha animal.
As a sidenote,in most instances, bait is not hung over foothold traps. In most states,it is illegal to set a trap, within so many feet of a foothold. This is to keep our raptors from accidently being caught.
