Winchester model 43 218 bee
« on: October 05, 2006, 05:35:32 AM »
Does anyone know a source for a replacement barrel for this rifle?  I inherited my fathers and I don't think he ever cleaned it.  Anyway the bore is rough and acurracy really bad.  I have cleaned it properly and even used the foul out machine on it.  The barrel is definately bad.  I remember as a kid this rifle would shoot dime sized groups at 100 yds with sierra 50gr bullets and 2400 powder.

If no replacement barrel is there someone that could line the old barrel?

That is a shame. I have one of the old 43 in 218 and lucked out , in that it was shot very little. However dad has one that has been shot for years and I think I was the last one to clean it. There has got to be someone that can help you out. If you are just looking to re-barrel it there are a lot of fine smiths that can do the job for you. If you are looking for a Winchester it will be a little harder but do what you must for a fine old rifle. Enjoy yours I do mine cgillette ;D ;D

Beinke & Beinke Gunshop 541-533-0907 may be able to reline your barrel.  They do excellant work and will be doing a .218 Bee for me in the near future.  Not cheap but less than a new barrel.  Finding a original barrel to replace yours would be very difficult.  Good luck, 2520

Is the barrel pitted or still just really dirty. an aggressive cleaning with jd paste and/or one of those foaming cleaners might do the trick. I have recovered a couple of barrels over the years like that.

You might also try fire lapping the barrel befor you have it re line or replaced.
