XLR/COWBOY

Anyone hear own both  and want to share comparisons  as far as accuracy and which one comes to the shoulder better. I am talking aboiut the 1895 45/70 models

I've owned several differnt 1895's...the cowboy model included...and none balance as well as the new XLR...My cowboy was very accurate..especially with the .459 405 grain Cast Performance WLNGC and with the 300 grain Nosler Partitions...I haven't shot the Cast Performance yet in the XLR...but will later this week...The partitons I have...and the are very accurate...so too is the 300 grain Uni-core Federal Factory load.. and the Hornady 350 fp...If this sounds like I really like mine...your absolutely correct...I do....I feel it...as with the other XLR's... are some of the best Marlin has made in a long time...As much as I love the octagon barrel...Once I had mine in hand..I had to have it..

Mac is 100% right on the XLR, I've handled 2 of em now, they're real nice....almost as nice as my BLR!! ;D If I was lookin for another levergun, it would definately be an XLR!! ;)

Thanks for the replys i had the 1895ss with micro groove and 22" and sold it a few years ago . I handled the cowboy but wasn't to  pleased with it i have not yet handled the XLR but it looks like a sweet rifle and i like the 24" i just wish they had the old walnut stock and forend in walnut without checkering  with the stainless, but i do like the looks of the black grey lam. stock . Ive had the chance to drool over the XLR at Gander MTN lately.. Think im gonna pick one up for Christmas.  ;D
