Curious about 45-70 factory ammo
« on: October 16, 2006, 12:25:29 AM »
I wondering about remington and winchester. I have a few rounds left of rem. and win.. My 45-70 is dialed in with the win. I shot a couple of rem. They shot low and yes they were the same gr. bullet.(300). Now I reload for everything I have. But I'm wondering if the win. ammo has a bit more juice than the remington. ::) I have some loads worked up for 45-70. Using imr3031 and 4198. I've heard that remington is the accuracy load while the win. is for more power! That sounds kinda stupid to me! ;) I will say the win. ammo hits harder. Anyone have any ideas?

There's not a lot of difference in the velocity by their specs, 1810 vs 1880, but the Win partition gold is a heck of a lot better bullet than the Rem bullet, dunno about the Win JHP bullet. Win doesn't indicate their barrel length, so it's most likely a toss up. Neither is loaded hot by any means, they're both trapdoor loads.
