Reactive Targets
« on: August 02, 2006, 07:21:44 PM »
Has anyone else here used those red plastic capgun caps as targets? To do so I use a finishing nail, the head of which just fits inside the cup of a plastic capgun cap. I push the nail (pointy end first) into my duct putty pellet trap. Done properly the shooter is presented with a circular red target about the same diameter as a .177 pellet. A very challenging target at 10 meters. When hit the target makes a VERY satisfying bang and a little smoke. A pack of caps, couple nails, a pellet gun, LOTS of pellets and some pellet-shooting buddy's who like to bet make for a fun evening.
Any recomendations for other safe targets that go bang?
Cheers, p_t

well your reactive target is probably better than mine.i used cheerieos on a twig poked in a hole atop of my archery back stop in front of the pellet trap.  the cheerios {actuly i used the cheep generik brand} are alot cheeper than those shater disk targets and clean up is easy. food grade material, so  no guilt if clean up is less than perfect. think i like the smoke from your caps I  might have to  give it a try.   D.
