One time in Texas
« on: June 04, 2007, 05:24:20 PM »
When my son was in the Cub Scouts, we went on a camp-out somewhere southeast of Dallas Texas.  One night I kept hearing critters going through the stuff outside our tents.  I figured raccoons and yelled at them several times.  When they did not leave I unzipped the tent and shined a flashlight on the critter.

What I saw was amazing and perplexing to this day.  There was this little fuzzy creature with red eyes that screamed, then rolled up in a ball and bounced away.  It was making weird sounds until it was out of sight.

I have never seen nor heard anything like this before or again.  I wish I could.  MV out!

My first thought is when you went camping, you accidentally set up camp, and were down wind and too close to a meth lab cooking in the woods, since no animal you described exists. ; ;D :o ;D

I had thought of ringtails, except for the fact that their eyes are bright white like car headlights.

I doubt that it was an armadillo, I have never know one to have red eyes, and make weird sounds.  As for the ringtail cat, possibly, but they are rarely sen in east Texas.  Ringtails are fairly common in West Texas, but I have never heard one of them make a "weirs" noise, roll up into a ball and bounce away.  They usually seek out a  tree in the area and try to hide there.  Red eyes kinda indicated a rabbit to me.
