204 great shooter
« on: October 18, 2006, 07:30:58 AM »
I just got back a 204 handi I sold right after I got it. I started loading some 32gr vmax with 30gr of imr 3031 and I'm getting .75" groups with it. The first time I had it I loaded 40gr vmax and h4895 with not very great resoltes. I think I'm going to stick with this new load. Has any one else shot this recipe? I'm going to order some 35gr berges I was told they do a better job on coyotes then the32gr vmax's.

I posted wrong I'm using 30gr of blc-2 in the 204 the imr3031 is what I'm using in my nef 243 sorry.

Huntnut, For I know all of the 204's are great shooters, I use 32gr, v-max
and grains BL (C ) 2  did great job   on P. Dogs. I didn't have good luck 40 grain pills.
I don't know how it does on yotes. good luck  Marv.

I got very similar results but for some reason I could not get anywhere near max with bl-c(2), but my 40 gr loads were good it was just that the 32's were better. Your on the right track with the 35 bergers, I only go a few last year but the pelt damage was minimal, and it does seem to have a large following, the 45 Hornady and 40 nosler are others to watch but this is the first winter out for those two.
