Gunsmith in Utah
« on: October 20, 2006, 08:24:39 AM »
Hi All:

I've got a Browning Lever Action in 358 Winchester.  Once I put the scope on I pulled the iron sights.  The down side is that I was unable to find the correct screw plugs.  The ones they had at the dealer that I bought the scope from were just a bit too long and snag on everything.  So I took them out.  Now I'm left with a couple of ugly holes in the top of the barrels.

To make a long story short I want to cut the barrel down about 1.5 inches so that those holes go away and I have a nice clean barrel.  Can anyone recommend a Gunsmith in the Salt Lake City area?

I've heard that Brownell's makes crowning tools for the do-it yourself crowd.  Does anyone have experience doing that?

Please help!!!

Get on Brownell's website and order some of their set screws with heads. Honestly they have small diameter heads and are shorter than normal to assure they don't stick up.. Cheaper than shortening the barrel..and you can go back to opens if you wish..  I use the crowning tools from Brownells(there are 2 different brands available) and like them a lot..
