barrel compatibility

1st post! 2 questions.

Want my first handi, so I buy a 45/70 and send it back for the 44mag. set-up.  I am not clear whether I will be able to change the barrels myself now, or do I have to send it back to the factory each time?!

If I get the syn. 45/70, can I put the syn. Superlight Youth barrel caliber options on it?

Thanks in advance guys.  This site was the nail in my procrastination coffin.

Welcome to GBO!! You can swap barrels in about 30 seconds, just a matter of removing the forend scew and forend, press the barrel release and open the action and remove the barrel, reverse to put it back together with one of the many other barrels you're gonna buy!! Superlight barrel will work too. ;)

You have no idea what you are getting yourself into  ;D Handis are a down hill slide , first its just one rifle , then its maybe an extra barrel , the next thing you need the 12 step program like the rest of us .  ;) ;) ;) :o :D ;D
