I have a 22mag/22LR convertible. I love it. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how accurate they are for a little gun. I have several friends that also carry them. They have all been pleasantly surprised by the accuracy. In a survival (not self defense) situation, a rabbit would be in real serious trouble out to 25 yards. The CCI Maxi Mag +V will do almost 1300 fps out of the 1 5/8" barrel. That is amazing to me. I carried the little 22mag in my strong side front pocket for years. I think Dale Towert estimated that the 22mag would be a 40% One Shot Stopper, although there was no shooting record with the cartridge to back up those figures (hence the estimate). When I carry mine, I pretty much count on having to have a Central Nervous System hit to absolutely stop a determined adversary. However, the report and muzzle blast and the hypervelocity little 22 bullet would probably deter all except the most determined assailant. THE 22 MAG IS REALLY LOUD !!!!! I often tell people that I carry the little 22 when I can't carry a gun, but I did not feel nearly as vulnerable with the little 22 mag in my pocket as I did without it. I have now graduated to a little 32 Guardian for everyday carry. I really love it also, but I am by no means going to get rid of my little 22. As a matter of fact I just bought a pair of the oversize rubber grips for it. Those grips make all the difference in the world as far as speed, accuracy and control for rapid shooting. I strongly recommend them.
