Just browsed this topic and didn't see mention of the S+W 22 series of autos. I'm a huge fan.Great accuracy, very reliable, weaver rail for dot, good trigger, push buuton barrell takedown. What's not to like, and they aren't expensive. Any other fans out there?

I like mine! Got a 22A, 4" barrel. It fits my hand like it was made just for me, good sights & accurate. I'm thinking about a red-dot or scope for it. Old eyes. :(

Grizzlyguy:

Interesting.

I'm shopping around for a new pistol and I am concerned about the S&W 22A's. I stumbled across more than one post that said there is a "hook" that breaks off internally, after some use. Any idea what this is about?  It's definately on my radar screen but...

Frankly, I'm not looking for a tack-driver...just a safe, dependable, light weight pistol for my wife's casual use.  Got match pistols already.

Your comments please!

Thanks again Grizz!

Don't know about any breakage problems. Mine is a 22S, and Iv'e shot it a lot useing ammo from bulk pack to match and other than an occasional dud from the cheap ammo it has been very reliable. No bad habits at all. My buddy has a couple also, and he is the type that gets rid of a firearm that has even the slightest hiccup. The only thing I would change is the S model has some type of coating over the steel that I managed to soften up with aerosol cleaner spray, and when I wiped it off right away there must have been some crud on the rag, and the coating dulled a little. We got rid of our Buckmarks after getting these S+W, and the S+W will shoot right along with our high dollar pistols.

I have a 22s 7 1/2" barrel.  I love mine.  It is accurate and reliable.  I like the interchangeable barrel concept also.  I plan on getting a 5 1/2" target barrel for mine soon.
