Do you have to remove a tang from a traditional muzzleloader for cleaning? Do they ever get removed?

Depends if it’s a hook breech or not . If it is then the tang stays in the stock and the barrel comes off . If it’s a solid breech then the tang comes off with the barrel when you take the barrel off
