This is an Airgun forum?
« on: October 20, 2006, 09:48:58 AM »
Seems there's as little info on airguns as their is in American Rifleman. No wonder this place is as of  big of a joke among serious airgunners  I just had to come and see for myself.

This almost does(860fps with 14.3 gr B-S Diabolos) as much velocity in .22 as Gamo claims for thier barreled pogo sticks(most ofter seen by dinizens hereabouts in the full page color ads in the Rifleman).

Wonder how they shoot at 100 yardd?

Sure surprised this guy at the range the other day. He was sighting in his deer rifle and as I was setting up, asked it he wanted to take a whack against a BB gun at 100 yards?

Sure don't look like no .308 hit it first shot, huh?

Wonder where you'd go to find out about such beasts?

It's an airgun FORUM buried in a shooting, hunting, fishing, trapping and general outdoor website with over 175 DIFFERENT forums. If you are foolish enough to think this should be the equal of a site devoted solely to airguns then you are truly uninformed. We don't even try to be. We offer this forum as a place where those who wish to discuss airguns while here can do so. We in no way expect it to be a one stop shopping for airgunners.

I suggest if you find it so lacking you go back to where ever the hell you can from and don't return.

On top of that I would like to see him haul all that support equipment thru the woods on a three day outing. I'm thinking he would be begging for a pogo-stick by the end of the second day. ::)

well........

i guess arrogance never really impresses anybody.

now a fellow who really does know a lot about any one thing and has the attitude of trying to help folks out is normally welcome anyplace.

i suspect that a person who introduces himself with a general  insult is hardly welcome anywhere.

it's called common courtesy. you may have had the chance to be the person everybody wanted answers from but now....nobody is listening.

I've been enjoying airguns for over 40 years now and I still don't know how much money I need to spend to be a "serious airgunner". I've owned dozens of guns in that time and just finished reworking an R10. I've worked on BB guns and Giss contra-piston guns. I enjoy them all. Does this make me a serious airgunner? I don't know and I really don't care. This is about having fun and sharing the fun with others. I have met a lot of great airgun people in that time and can count the bad experiences on one hand. That doesn't happen in many other groups of people in this day and age.
Have fun Safely!

For some reason this forum seems to bring out more spammers trying to pull members to other sites and putting this site down than ALL the rest of the over 175 forums combined. Dunno why. We have a rather small group of air gunners here really and I doubt any of you or at least not a lot of you are here JUST for the GBO airgun forum to the exclusion of all others on the site. Might be some but it's just not that kinda forum really. It's just a place here where folks who are gonna be here anyway can talk airguns while here if they want to.

Sure folks who are airgunners only and have no interest in the other forums are welcome and no doubt a few such show up from time to time but that's not really what I suspect the majority here are. GBO is a very large and very diverse site not dedicated to any one aspect of shooting, hunting, fishing, trapping or outdoor activity. We cover most of it. Ya can't expect one forum among many of a site with so much diversity to be as deep in the coverage of any one subject as a site fully devoted to that subject would. I also suspect most of you visit more than just this airgun forum if you are even half serious on the subject.

Dunno about folks like long gun fun or what drives them.

I've been enjoying airguns for over 40 years now and I still don't know how much money I need to spend to be a "serious airgunner".

haha, i've been air gunning "seriously" for about a year.  imo, as long as you own a rifle, regardless of the type of projectile, muzzle velocity, or power plant, and if you are always working at getting better while having fun...you're a serious airgunner.  as far as how much money it costs to be a serious airgunner, that's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard.  i agree with chris, and probably everyone else on this forum when i say it doesn't matter.  for me, it's less than $100.  i never have understood why people spend several thousand dollars for a pcp;  my h&r .223 gets sub-moa groupings out of the box at well over 3 times the speed of sound, and i bought it for $260.

btw, i can hit a can at 100 yards too...with my modified crosman 2240.  it costs me $80.  and, i don't use sandbags...or a spotting scope.
When the whole world is crashing down around me, atleast I'll have my SKS.

Insulting everybody is really the way to make any forum better.
Mission accomplished. ;)
