Two Speed Goats cooling before 9AM
« on: October 25, 2006, 08:08:59 AM »
season is winding down, better get out there and get it done.  I drew three tags for Antelope this fall, one either sex, and two doe-fawn tags.. got a new TC Encore 50-209 that needs some experiance. last day off during the season, so..  got a nice buck, and a fat doe in two shots, about a mile behind the house.   Buck about 120 yds,  took the 250 shockwave ahead of two 50-50 pyro pellets through one lung, angled back thru the grassbag..  he ran off with his ladies, but soon lagged behind, and went down within a couple of hundred yards..    I hiked out into some ridges/valleys, and eased up over a ridge, caught another group feeding,  shot the closest doe offhand at about a hundred, heart/lunged her.   This rifle will do for my Michigan ML hunt in December..    Les

Congrats and good shooting.  I always wanted to try out a muzzy on lopes but figured I would see a trophy at 350 yds.  Since I must travel half way across the US to hunt them I can't scout an area before I hunt.  So I have no idea what's available.  I'm guessing you scoped your encore?  125 yd zero?

James:  yes I scoped the Encore,, a 2-7 weaver V series.. sighted about 2 inches high at 100... groups around an inch and a half..haven't chronoed this load but prolly will sometime.   ribbed the buck.. he ran a little further than I like, but here in Wyoming you can see forever,  he went down twice before staying down.
