Remington 591/92 5mm Rimfire
« on: November 01, 2006, 12:46:32 PM »
I believe Remington came out with the 5mm rimfire in the very late '60's?  Wanted to compete with the 22 WMR.
Wonder if the 5mm ammo is still available today?  I think TC offered a barrel in 5mm as well.  If my memory is correct, the 5mm ballistics were much better than the .22 WMR.   What happened to the 5mm rimfire?

I have one of those rifles with a clip feed The only reason I quit shooting it was cost. I could reload a 222 for less money. It was a terrific caliber. There is a conversion out there, but the sesults aren't as good as the rimfire. they were saying 2'-21/2 " @ 100yds. Mine was doing 1-1/14 @ the same range. I wasn't going to modify it with no gains. At the last show I was at in Tampa the ammo was selling for $60.00 per box, but I only have 2 boxs left and they're going to my Grandsons. performance was far superios to the mag with a tad bit noisier.

It's time for THE SILENT MAJORITY to quit being silent!!
