Marlin Customer Suppoprt Sucks
« on: December 06, 2006, 06:38:27 AM »
I have been trying for 2 days using Marlins toll free # to ask if my short 336Y stock can be replaced with a regular length stock. All I get is a the same stupid recording. Anyone else had a similar experience with them?

It's the time of year. everybody waits til the last minute to order the part that broke during last year's hunting season. By the way, any pistol grip stock for the 336 will fit your 336Y. I have my best luck calling customer service between 8 and 8:30 am eastern time.

Marlin sells replacement stocks directly or you can get them through their parts distributors such as Brownell's or Gun Parts Corp. I think the cost is around 90.00 for a walnut stock. I have had good luck with gun companies by asking if they have any "seconds" that they will sell at a discount if it is just going on a hunting rifle. Try to get Joanne in their Service department.

Many Marlins are pistol grip, but remember thats a 19th century pistol grip not a 20th or 21st century AR or Ak type stock. You can order a replacement stock from many different makers and even get custom ones just do a google search for "replacement stocks" or "custom stocks" for "marlin 336" that should get you taken care of.

Recurve:
Stick w/ the Marlin.  Sometimes it is difficult to get through.  I have ordered one from Brownell's and had to fit and completely finish it--Not what I was expecting.  The one's from Marlin are already fitted and finished and I've had much better results with them rather than Brownell's for this particular item.

Call Wild West Guns.  They tear stocks off new rifles and replace them with synthetic.  I ordered new tear-off stocks (fore and aft) for my Marlin and it cost me $50.00 plus shipping.
