What One Next?
« on: November 25, 2006, 03:51:22 PM »
hey there fellas, I just dont know what i want. Christmas is coming up and i dont know what i want to put down for the wish list? I have  a 45/70 Buff. Clasic, I have a handi synth, in .223, a handi with wood stocks in .243 that i prolly wont send back to the factory as it will be in use. I have a few shotguns to but they dont matter. I will be plinking with it, using it as a saddle gun, gun in the truck ect. I dont know what else, Just a good all around gun to use whenever and wereever. I want it in open sites. I was thinking of either a .44 mag cause i got the loading stuff already. or a .357 mag or 357 max also got the loading stuff for that. Possibly a 30/30 but ive already got a good saddle gun for that. so im open to any suggestions. leme have em!

I'd get the .30-30 or the .357.  The .44s don't shoot very well it seems.  I'd like a .500 S&W if I didn't have a .45-70 already.

Get the 30-30. It's a classic, and everyone should have one. Or two. Or three.

Ok boys, i know its early for decisions, but i think for right now im going to go with the .357, and if i change my mind in the near future, then the 30/30, but im pretty sure that the .357 will be a fine one for me to have. I hear it calling my name now!

p.s. thatl come with open sights right? How long will the barrel be? I would like it to be short. any recomendations?

22" with sights unless you want a scope mount too, just order it the way you want it.

44 mag, mine shoots better than me!  Fun to shoot in a rifle, you'll never look back, that is, if you get a "good" one.

FWIW, it appears that H&R may be on top of the .44mag overbore issue, Bajabill's recently purchased acc barrel slugged at .430", so maybe thing are looking up. ;)

Well shoot, if you think that the .44 barrel is going to finaly get cleaned up, then i might just buy that, but if i do, i want a good one. I already have a handgun so the rifle and the handgun would be a perfect match. but i want them to be perfect, the rifle should shoot as good as the pistol, and that is 3 and a half inch groups at 100 yds with 7 and a half inch barrel with hand loads and open sights. But if you guys still think that it would be better to wait it out and get the .357 first then i will do that. thats what im thinking right now. What do you guys think?

I'd like to have a .44 myself if they get the overbore problem fixed.
