7X57 Ackley 160 grain load needed
« on: October 09, 2006, 02:14:27 PM »
I have been shooting whitetails with my 7X57 AI for years.  My load is a 140 grain Sierra Game King over 3031 powder.  I get right at, or just over, 3125 FPS, and very good accuracy.
I have been wanting to develope a load with a heavier bullet though, for a possible trip out west.  I am looking for a good load with the 160 grain Nosler Partition bullet.

If you don't get any data here, try this..it is what I do.
go to the nosler manual.look up the data for the 160gr.then find the most accurate powder used in the data section for that bullet.start load for you would be the max listed in the book.load five then load five with one more grain do this untill three grains over has been reached.go to the range and test.cold clean barrel with each load tested.checking for pressure with each shot.good luck..where out west are ya headed??and what animal ya going to shoot??
my huntin rifle is safe from confiscation only while my battle rifle protects it.

Mule Deer or Elk, kyote
My son has a business associate with property and a hunt camp in Wyoming.  We have a standing invite to come out.

I think your idea will work to develope the load I want.  Thanks
