Coyote Bow Kill
« on: October 30, 2006, 01:45:51 AM »
Just got my first coyote with a bow this past week.  12 yards away with a 125 gr. Shockwave.  It had a bird in its mouth and did not make it 20 yards.  Never did find the bird.  Pretty strange.  Anyone else dispatch any coyotes with stick and string?

I got a shot at one about 4 weeks ago at 30 yards, but missed it. My brother-in-law got one with his bow last year.

I shot one about 4 years ago.  Two of them came in and were trotting 30yds from me. I let an arrow fly and smoked him right int the lungs. He ran about 30 yds and layed down biting at the hole in him.  His partner then ran up to him wondering what was up. What was really wild was that a little 8pt that I had seen just prior to all of this came running up to the yotes scaring the one off and standing over the now dead one, then walke away.  Pretty cool scene.  I have it tanned hanging on my wall.
That is the only time I have ever gotten a draw on a yote. I think the only reason I got away with it was because it was lightly raining.

Killed a couple.  The first one was nearly straight down and the coyote had to jump up off the arrow.  The second one I killed in a cow pasture.  He let out a big yelp as he was about to expire.  The reaction from the cattle was comical.  Over the next hour, I think every cow in that pasture came over & very cautiously checked him out - a couple hoofed at him & stepped on him a little - revenge I guess.
