encore pro hunter breech plug cleaning
« on: November 02, 2006, 03:04:09 PM »
I just cleaned my encore prohunters breech plug and noticed the hole is one size down so far under the primer end and then necks down right near the end. I really got a lot of crud out of this section and was wondering what others are using to clean this area?  To the best of my memory my old encore breech plugs had a very small hole all the way through. This prohunter plug is almost the size of the primer down to almost the end and then it necks down to the small hole. Thanks for any and all help.

CVA  (I think) sells some yellow pipe-cleaner looking doodads that work pretty well. They leave quite a bit of lint behind however. It's never caused me any trouble though.

Mine is the same way, I just take a q-tip to clean it out.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if anybody made a wire brush small enough to slide in there. I think it would break up the crud a little better

A q-tip with Windex with vinegar is all I ever needed.
