.50cal twist for ball and conical.

Hi,I have got myself a Pedersoli Pennsylvania Scout Standard Percussion .50 ,it has a 28 inch barrel and is  1 in 34 twist,can some one tell me if this is best for ball or conical or if is ok for both? Anybody tryed R.E.A.L in these? Thanks for any help. Regards,Tony.

A 1 in 34" twist would be good for a conical, or sabot. It may shoot a patched round ball with lesser amounts of powder. Generally a 1 in 48" and slower twist will work for roundballs.

tony a friend of mine has the same gun try 50grn of fff a .490 ball and a very tight patch it works for him . bernie :)

I would give the Lee" R.E.A.L." bullets a try. They come in 250 and 320g sizes. There are lots of other conicals out there to try too.
