Range Report Encore 209X50
« on: November 12, 2006, 05:07:32 PM »
Finally made it to the range on Friday to check the 309JDJ and 209X50 Enocre.

This target was two 50gr T7 pellets, Winchester T7 primer, and Hornady 44 caliber 240gr XTP/TC Mag Express Sabot @ 100yds

This target was same load with TC 250gr Shock Wave bullet. 5 shots @ 100yds.

I cleaned between every shot and I did notice a crud ring but not as bad as regular primers.  I also noticed less blow back around the breech plug with the Winchester T7 primers.

Great shoot'n Jay,
You may want to give the the loose T7 a try if'n you get a chance, as from my own experience, a load of 80-90 grains depending on the sabot that t/c is using with the xtp's in your batch will drop that group size even smaller!!  Not that reducing a group that nice would mean much for deer, but It's always nice for piece of mind (or bragging rightswith your buddies for that matter).
Good luck and good shooting!!

Redhawk1,
Thanks for the info you provided serveral weeks ago about you calling TC and they stated you can shoot 3 T7 pellets in the 209X50.
Your the first person I know of that actually called TC.

toecutter,
Some day I'll try the loose T7. Don't know where the times goes. I'mnot sure if the sabots I found on the ground were mine but the black ones I picked up had all 4 petals spread out like a + sign. The grren ones I found weren't pretty at all. only one petal was spread out and the others weren't. I didn't check the ground before I started shooting but will the next time.

I also suggest you try loose triple 7. I get real good accuracy with it, and you get more shots for your money. Just remember 120 gr. of loose triple 7 in the Encore is the max. It equals 150 gr. (Three Triple 7 pellets).
