Not a .45 but I was looking at the BFR 44 mag "Shorty" 5" barrel, but my car died after only 211,000 miles and ate my "spare" funds at the last moment.  BFR's seem to be the best built production single actions at half the Freedom Arms price tag. Of course you could go with a .454 and get a 45 Colt extra cylinder to go with it.

Find a used Ruger Blackhawk, Superblackhawk or Vaquero in whatever caliber you're happy with and don't look back. You won't be disappointed.

Greetings
My vote is for the simply rugged and dependable Ruger Blackhawk.  Have 2 in 45 Colt and will not be getting rid of either.  I can do anything with them and never have to wonder if they will stand by my needs.  Load it with heavy cast or round ball and it makes no difference.  For the money you are talking you can get 2, rig and still have ammo funds.  Hunt, plink, cowboy, self-defense and target you will be all set.

Sent you a pm. If your looking for bang for the buck, Rugers are impossible to beat. If it's going to be your only SA, I'd think hard about getting the one I wanted.

A wise sage here at Graybeard once wrote " there isn't much you can't do with a 255 grain bullet going 900-1000 ft. per second.
I like the New Vaquero SS in 45 LC a lot.

The ultimate .45 would be a FA 97. But for the rest of us who can't afford that a Ruger can't be beat. And you got lots of aftermarket goodies available for them to slick them up and/or personalize them. IMO Ruger= best value.

i have several ruger 0 problems i have a uberti bird head 3 1/4 in barrel that is sweet but can't shoot the longer bullets i can shoot in the ruger.exspecially the 200 grn cast bullets the have to be seated deaper in case so just use the snubby nosed 250's shots nice. ;D
