Weaver Rings ?
« on: August 28, 2006, 02:46:49 PM »
Has any one tried the quad lock or 4x4's What do you think of them ? I took a set of old weaver side clamps off a new scope and was shocked to see two large dents in the scope. I thought the scope was broken, but it wasnt sure looks funny with the dents.

Save yourself the agony of ring marks and possibly a damaged scope and use Burris Signature Zee rings if you need Weaver style rings, you'll appreciate them if you value the scope! They're more expensive that a lot of other rings, but your scopes will appreciate them and the option to use the offset inserts is always a plus.

I have a set of the 4x4's on my hunter silhouette rifle, and they work fine. I lightly linebored them to help get full contact, and they hold the scope without slipping or damage. I mainly got them because they're really lightweight and I needed to save ounces so I could use a heavier barrel. Plus they're only about six bucks. No complaints here.

Sorry this is a late reply,
Buy a ring lapping kit. Wheeler make a affordable kit.
By using the alining rods and the lapping bolt you can easly trued up the rings.
I believe that all ring should be trued and lapped wether they are $5  or $150

I've used weavers for years.. with no problems, as long as they were correctly installed.. The last 4x4's I used were on an Austin&Halleck .50 caliber.. They work to perfection.. Rifle shoots great and the scope hasn't moved.. Love the available offset feature..
