what's the scope base screws thread count size?

I'm in need of a tap so I can tap a old amry rifle for a scope base.

H&R's use a 6x48, but others may use an 8x40, just depends on the base being used and the screws available with the right length.

what I meant to ask is the thread count(threading tap size). I will be useing a scope base for a handi rifle. the lenght of the screws will be shorten to size. thanks timmy

The scope base isn't threaded, the screws that are used with the H&R scope base are 6x48, that's a number 6 with  48 threads per inch pitch.
