Taurus Gaucho - opinions
« on: November 07, 2006, 01:33:10 AM »
A pawn shop I frequent is slashing prices almost in half to clear out excessive inventory. The had a like NIB Blued Gaucho in 45 Colt 5.5" barrel for 199.00 befor tax. I bought it. I have read some good reviews in magazines. Anyone here like them or have experience?

They also had a Desert Eagle semi-auto from Magnum Research in 357 Mag for 599.00  I got it as well.

Boy, was that a steal. I bought one a few months ago and really like it. I've only shot cowboy loads so far and it shoots about six inches high at twenty-five yards but centered on target. The trigger is pretty good right out of the box and I'm happy with the gun.

I've looked them over locally and have been very impressed.  I would jump at one for that kind of price!  If I were to spend 'new' price on one, I would probably put just a little more with it and buy a 'New Vaquero' Ruger.  Although the Ruger looks a little funny with the hammer shape but you quickly get used to that.  If I wanted closer to the traditional 'Colt' look I would buy the Gaucho.  Both have modern lockwork and make great 'using' pistols!  44 Man

I've handled one in a store, but I've not shot one.  I liked the looks of them.  Apparently, Taurus is using that frame as the basis for a .45 LC revolving carbine. . .

Do NOT forget it's a Taurus and Taurus quality has hit rock bottom lately and their customer service is the only thing worse than their quality right now.

Nice find!  I've been quite happy with mine - the finish is very nice and it shoots quite well.  If you have any second thoughts, I'd take it off your hands.
